Culver Prepares to Take Permit System Online

Town Council members received an update Tuesday night after a meeting last week between Town Management and the Marshall County Planning and Building Office. Neighboring communities in Marshall County have been using an online permit system for almost one year to improve efficiency for contractors and local residents.

Golf Cart Permit Fee Changes Cause Problems for Culver Town Council

culver-town-hallAn ordinance that specifies the use of golf carts within Culver’s Town Limits ran into a few problems, Tuesday night.

The matter was approved on first reading earlier this month. Golf carts are a common method of transportation during the warmer months in the lake community. The Town already has an ordinance in place regulating their use, but Town Administration has proposed changes to the way they’re used in Town and the fees associated with the proper permits.

Culver Considers Permit Fees for Large Events

The Town of Culver could soon develop a permit for special events requiring a police presence.

An ordinance outlining a possible fee schedule was introduced during a meeting Monday night. That ordinance, if adopted, would assess fees for events over a certain size or time limits. Permits would only be issued for events requiring the use of public property.

Culver Considers Reforming Permit Inspection Fees

Negotiations are still taking place, but the Town of Culver may be changing the way they charge fees for building permits.

Culver currently charges a $50 fee for any permit that requires an inspection. Marshall County, however, appears to be unhappy with the way that fee is structured. The Town pays Marshall County about $2,500 per year in the fees they collect for inspections.
