Two people were hurt and a man was arrested after a head-on crash on U.S. 20 in LaPorte County. Sheriff’s deputies say it happened around 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Investigators believe a passenger vehicle was stopped in a westbound lane waiting to turn left on County Road 250 East. A pickup truck apparently tried to go around it by going left of center and crashed head-on into an eastbound passenger vehicle.

Two Arrested, Following Bi-County Crime Spree
Two arrests have been made in connection with a series of armed robberies and other crimes in LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties, according to the information given by officials and Roanoke criminal justice law firm. According to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Timothy E. Bennitt and 32-year-old Nathan D. Kellogg are being held in the LaPorte County Jail after being linked to a series of crimes since early January. Continue reading
New Charges Filed Against Convicted Murderer, Child Molester
A convicted murderer and child molester is back in jail after his arrest yesterday at a public library in Indianapolis. Richard Dobeski, 67, was picked up on a LaPorte County warrant for four counts of failure to register as a sex offender. All are Level 6 felonies, which carry a penalty of between 6 months and 2.5 years in prison. A failure to register charge will also be filed in Marion County, according to officials with the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department. Dobeski was released last week from the Indiana Department of Correction New Carlisle facility. Continue reading
