Two people were hurt and a man was arrested after a head-on crash on U.S. 20 in LaPorte County. Sheriff’s deputies say it happened around 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Investigators believe a passenger vehicle was stopped in a westbound lane waiting to turn left on County Road 250 East. A pickup truck apparently tried to go around it by going left of center and crashed head-on into an eastbound passenger vehicle.

A LaPorte County community is mourning the sudden death of a high school student. The 17-year-old boy was taking part in an intramural basketball game at New Prairie High School Monday evening, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department.
