Better water quality may soon be coming to some local lakes, thanks to the latest round of Lake and River Enhancement grants from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Koontz Lake was awarded $100,000 and Lake Maxinkuckee got over $46,000 for wetland enhancement. Lake Bruce was awarded almost $47,000 for water quality monitoring.

A number of local lakes are set to get some investment, thanks to the latest round of Lake and River Enhancement grants from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Bruce Lake in Fulton and Pulaski counties was awarded more than $32,000 for sediment removal.

The Four Lakes area of Mill Pond, Kreighbaum, Cook, and Holem lakes received $28,400 this year. Koontz Lake got $36,300, while Lake of the Woods was awarded $6,500.
