Area Police Departments Continue with Holiday Enforcement Effort

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, along with officers from the Plymouth Police Department, Bremen Police Department and Bourbon Police Department are out in force this holiday weekend to spot violations to Indiana’s seat belt and impaired driving laws.

Random patrols are expected along with saturation patrols and checkpoints. This overtime enforcement is supported with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) funds administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI). Continue reading

Bourbon, LaPorte Police Departments to Receive Grant Funding for Purchase of Body Armor

Some local police officers will soon have extra protection, thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. Several Indiana law enforcement agencies have gotten 50-50 matching grants to help buy ballistic or stab-resistant body armor, as part of the Bulletproof Vest Partnership. That’s according to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over this Labor Day Weekend

The Labor Day weekend is filled with a variety of different celebrations including the Marshall County Blueberry Festival and the Monterey Days Festival. These types of events may lead to alcohol consumption. If you drink, don’t drive.

Four law enforcement agencies in Marshall County are in the middle of the state’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign through the Labor Day holiday. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Bremen Police Department, Plymouth Police Department and Bourbon Police Department have increased sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and saturation patrols in an effort to take impaired drivers off the roads. Stay Safe while Celebrating Super Bowl

Police around Indiana are reminding Hoosiers not to drink and drive over the Super Bowl weekend. Marshall County Sheriff’s Department to Participate in Click it or Ticket

A local law enforcement agency is taking part in a national and statewide driver safety initiative. The next Click It or Ticket enforcement effort kicks off Friday and continues through May 31. Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will join more than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies on the lookout around the clock for drivers and passengers who aren’t wearing seat belts.
