Two Marshall County Students Get Next Generation Hoosier Educator Scholarships

Two hundred future Indiana teachers will get some help paying for college. The Next Generation Hoosier Educators scholarship provides up to $7,500 a year for students who commit to teaching in Indiana for at least five years after graduation. Among the recipients locally were Hadassah Chupp of Triton Junior-Senior High School and Grant Kauffman of Bremen High School.

FAFSA Help to Be Offered during Virtual College Goal Sunday Event Tomorrow

Those planning to attend college next fall can get free online help with the financial aid process tomorrow. Indiana is hosting its first-ever completely virtual College Goal Sunday event. Volunteers will be available to guide students and their parents through the process of filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

STEM Teacher Training Grants Available from Indiana Commission for Higher Education

Organizations working to help train teachers in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields can apply for a share of nearly $10 million from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. More Indiana high school graduates are prepared for college, but the Indiana Commission for Higher Education says there’s still more work to be done. State officials say in spite of recent improvements, nearly a fifth of recent high school graduates are still not ready to take college courses that count toward their degrees.
