A Town Convention is set for Monday, Aug. 20 to select two Republican candidates for two Culver Town Council seats open in the November General Election.
No additional candidates filed by yesterday’s deadline to be included in town conventions for available seats on the Culver Town Council and the Bourbon Town Council.
Town conventions will be held to determine candidates for the November General Election Ballot for the Culver Town Council and the Bourbon Town Council.
The Culver Town Council members approved ordinance readings that will move the Culver Meadows project at 17664 State Road 17 and 19456 State Road 10 a step closer in the process.
The Culver Town Council members approved additional readings of a traffic ordinance amendment at their meeting Tuesday night.
The amended traffic ordinance that the Culver Town Council members apparently approved in January needs to go through the process all over again.
The deadline is approaching for candidates to file to run in the May primary. Candidates have until Friday at noon to file their paperwork with the county clerk’s office. The list of candidates continues to grow in Marshall County. Democrat Angie Rupchoch-Schafer has filed to run for the District 4 County Council seat, challenging incumbent Republican Judy Stone.
The number of contested races is starting to add up, heading into the May primary. District 1 Marshall County Commissioner Kurt Garner has two challengers so far: David W. Hostetler and Stan Klotz. Three candidates are also looking to become the next Marshall County Recorder: Anna “Buffy” Breeding, William Cleavenger, and Janet Howard.
The Culver Town Council members heard public comments concerning the proposed traffic ordinance.
Council Vice President Sally Ricciardi read a citizen’s letter into the record that discussed safety concerns for emergency vehicles and residents maneuvering around the streets that are narrow. One street mentioned was Ohio Street and portions of that street will have no parking as part of the ordinance. The resident also mentioned the noise level of semi truck idling in residential neighborhoods and parking of the tractor trailers on residential streets.
