Energy savings upgrades are paying off for the Culver Community Schools Corporation. It saved more than $364,000 in energy costs, as the result of guaranteed energy savings projects in 2011 and 2013. That’s more than $100,000 beyond what was originally guaranteed.

The Culver Community Schools Corporation is reporting some positive enrollment figures. Superintendent Karen Shuman shared the results of last Friday’s official count during Monday’s school board meeting. “We are up 24 students [over] last year, so we’re at 774, where last year, we were at 750,” she said. “So that is good.”

Students at Culver Community Schools who have fallen behind in their lunch payments will now continue to get regular hot lunches. Previously, students who had accumulated a negative balance in their lunch accounts beyond a certain amount had been given an alternative box lunch. Culver Elementary School Finalizing Preparations for Pre-K Program
Culver Elementary School is getting ready to welcome its first preschool students. “We are full-fledged still going forward,” Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board last week. “We have two sections of preschool in place. [Transportation Director] Paul [Widman] and I have worked out the transportation routes, so they’ll be attending the same number of hours as the regular students, and we’ll keep mapping that out as registration comes.”
