Culver Redevelopment Commission President Rich West told the Culver Town Council members this week that the CRC meeting on Monday, Aug. 20 will feature representatives from Marshall County Fiber and Rochester Telephone to respond to survey results.
Culver Redevelopment Commission President Rich West approached the Culver Town Council this week with a statement of support with moving forward to distribute an online survey to attract a fiber optic project.
Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist delivered some “stellar” news Tuesday night to the town council members pertaining to funding for projects within the town’s designation as a Stellar Community.
“We had our first meeting with the grant administrative staff from the state and found out for our Community Development Block Grant funding through OCRA that they basically set aside $2 million for us,” said Leist. “A lot of that we’ll use at the Culver Beach Lodge and Cavalier Sports Park. That is a significant chunk of change that won’t require a local match at all. It’s very good news!”
The Culver Town Council members conducted a public hearing Tuesday night concerning a resolution to deem the Sand Hill Farms property an economic target area and an economic revitalization area per state statute for purposes of residential tax abatement. The abatement would be 100 percent for 10 years.
The Sand Hill Farms property will be home to a workforce development housing project offering 24-unit apartments.
