The school recently got a $5,000 grant from the Lowe’s Toolbox for Education, according to a school press release. That money will be used to install an outdoor classroom, which will include covered seating, an art area, space for gardening and science projects, and bird watching tools.

Enrollment Up at Culver Community Schools
The Culver Community Schools Corporation is reporting some positive enrollment figures. Superintendent Karen Shuman shared the results of last Friday’s official count during Monday’s school board meeting. “We are up 24 students [over] last year, so we’re at 774, where last year, we were at 750,” she said. “So that is good.”
New Entrance Nearly Ready at Culver Community Middle/High School
Culver Community Middle/High School’s new main entrance is just about done. “All glass is in,” Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board Monday. “All rooms are created. All plumbing is into the nurse’s station. All painting is completed. All furniture has been delivered. And all carpet has been replaced that needed replaced. So at this point, we are just waiting for trim to be finalized and cleaning of the whole zone to make it shine.”
Culver Elementary School Pre-K Program Now Eligible to Receive State Vouchers

Culver Elementary School Finalizing Preparations for Pre-K Program
Culver Elementary School is getting ready to welcome its first preschool students. “We are full-fledged still going forward,” Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board last week. “We have two sections of preschool in place. [Transportation Director] Paul [Widman] and I have worked out the transportation routes, so they’ll be attending the same number of hours as the regular students, and we’ll keep mapping that out as registration comes.”

Culver School Board Approves Elementary School Book Rental Fees
The Culver School Board finalized elementary school book rental fees for the upcoming school year Monday. Fees will vary depending on grade level. Second grade will be the lowest at $84, while kindergarten will be highest at $123. Culver School Board Approves Summer School Teacher, Summer Band Program
The Culver School Board continues to make arrangements for summer school classes. On Monday, board members approved the appointment of Mary James as the summer school teacher for Culver Community Middle/High School. They also gave permission for band director Jason Crittendon to offer a summer band program.
