The November General Election is three weeks away, but hundreds of Marshall County voters have already cast their ballots. As of Monday afternoon, 480 in-person absentee ballots had been cast, according to Clerk Deb VanDeMark. She says 143 of those were cast on the first day of early voting last Wednesday.

Primary Elections Tomorrow
Voters head to the polls tomorrow for the 2018 Primary Elections. The most hotly-contested office in Marshall County is District 1 County Commissioner. Incumbent Republican Kurt Garner will face David W. Hostetler and Stan Klotz in the May primary. The winner will presumably square off against Democrat Rich Erickson II in November. Other contested races include county recorder, as well as various open county council seats.
More than 200 Absentee Ballots Already Cast in Marshall County
With Primary Election Day still over two weeks away, many voters are choosing to cast their ballots early. The Marshall County Clerk’s Office says 167 in-person absentee ballots had been cast as of Friday afternoon. Another 37 people had voted by mail.

Candidate Filings Continue as Deadline Approaches
The deadline is approaching for candidates to file to run in the May primary. Candidates have until Friday at noon to file their paperwork with the county clerk’s office. The list of candidates continues to grow in Marshall County. Democrat Angie Rupchoch-Schafer has filed to run for the District 4 County Council seat, challenging incumbent Republican Judy Stone.
Local Election Officials Urge Voters to Make Sure They’re Registered, Ahead of May Primary
Those planning to vote in the May primary must register to vote, if they haven’t already. If you’re not sure if you’re registered, check before registering again. That’s the advice of Pulaski County Election Board Chair Jon Frain.
Several Township Officials File to Run for Reelection
Candidate filings continue in Marshall County. Several township trustees have filed to run for reelection. They include Center Township Trustee Amy Knapp, German Township Trustee Ben Baker, Green Township Trustee Marie Fishburn, North Township Trustee Chelsea Smith, Polk Township Trustee Jerry Lamb, Tippecanoe Township Trustee Matthew Pitney, Walnut Township Trustee Stephen Wilhelm, and West Township Trustee Terry Lee Borggren.
