WALKERTON – Peter Awald passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Beloved Home Care while surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 28, 1942, in Plymouth to the late DeLois Awald and Bertha (Rupert) Awald-Shores and was 79 years old at the time of his death.
On September 9, 1961, in Plymouth, he married the love of his life Karen Holm. Pete was a retired General Manager of Koppenhofer lumber. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Donaldson and was a past member of the Hamlet Golf Course Thursday Night Golf League and a Friday evening poker league. Pete was truly a kind and caring man. He was also a huge Purdue Boilermaker fan. He operated and loved his own small farm raising livestock and was famous for his delicious, sweet corn. Most of all, he was immensely proud of his children and their accomplishments.
Pete is survived by his loving wife Karen of Walkerton; one daughter Julie (Scott) Calvert of Frankfort, IN; one son Matt (Tammy) Awald of Lakeville; seven grandchildren Hannah, Lucy, Adam. Cody, Colton, Ruby, and David; and three brothers Tim (Sue) Awald and Dan (Mary Ann) Awald all of Walkerton, and Mark Awald. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Paul Awald.
On April 7, 2022, Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 CDT. Services will follow at 4:00 CDT, all at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. A light dinner will follow the funeral and will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 6835 Union RD., Plymouth (Donaldson) IN.
