Jack Holm, 98, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, September 1, 2023.
He was born in Grovertown, Indiana on September 16, 1924, the son of Delbert and Eva (Marsh) Holm. He graduated from Grovertown High School, where he excelled in baseball and basketball. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer aboard the USS Passaconaway. He was a past Commander of the American Legion Post 27 and a VFW member.
In 1947, he married a city girl from Chicago, Louise Schiefelbein. They spent 63 years together, traveling throughout the United States and abroad.
Jack was the owner of Plymouth L.P. Gas for over 60 years. For the past 13 years, he was the official greeter at the office, always telling stories about the past and how old he was!
Jack was a proud man! Proud of his accomplishments in life and proud to be an American! He was also a loving man. He loved his Lord, his Church, and his church family at Calvary Lutheran! He loved his family. When they gathered around the table, he would always tell each and everyone how much he loved them! He was a prayer warrior, praying unceasingly for his family, his friends, and his country!
He was a wonderful father to his daughter, Debra (Don) Buchtel. He was a caring grandfather to Elizabeth (Brent) Beissler and Emily (Mike) Kershner. He was just “GREAT” to William, Lydia, and Elliott Kershner and Elaina and Henry Beissler.
He leaves behind to cherish his many stories, his nephews: Dr. Byron Holm of Plymouth, IN; Ronnie Zimmerman of Auburn, IN; his nieces: Barbara Gretter of Plymouth, IN; Patricia Weninger of Germany; along with many great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Eva; his five siblings: Alfred; Margaret; Byron; Lena; and John; and his loving wife, Louise.
Well done good and faithful servant!
