Elizabeth A. “Betty” Cooke

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Cooke, age 89, of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023. Betty was born August 27, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ralph Laramie and Marie (Schultz) Laramie, both deceased.

On July 6, 1952, in Corinth, Mississippi, she married John Cooke, Sr. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2019. She loved all of her grandkids and great grandkids and spending time with them whenever she could. She also loved boating, fishing, camping and country life in general including being around horses and other animals, growing flowers and fresh vegetables. She was a wonderful cook who owned hundreds of cookbooks. Early in life she liked crafts like ceramics, crocheting, and making afghans. She had worked at Walgreens as a bookkeeper for over 15 years.

She has lots family including her son Robert Cooke (Kathy); their children, her grandkids, Jodi Payne (George), Jamie Wilson (Ira), Robert Cooke Jr. (Jackie), the late Bobbi Cooke, and her great grandkids, Hilton Brown, Austin & Blake Bradley, Caitlyn & Colin Cooke, Caiden & Coleton Wilson, Ayvin Cooke, Maddie, Thomas, Mollie & Morgan Wellensiak, and Van Conley.

Her son Daniel Cooke (Linda) and their children, her grandkids, Daniel T. Cooke (Erin), Kevin Cooke, and Laureen Black (Doug), and her great grandkids, Caitlin, Evan, Ayla & Michael Cooke, Lily & Dylan Black and Casper Tuhey.
Her son David Cooke (Janet) and their children, her grandkids, the late David Cooke Jr., Kristen Louck, and her great grandkids, Logan, Nathan and Isabella Cooke. Her son Greg Cooke (Lisa) and their children, her grandkids, Jason & Amy Cooke, and her great grandson, Ethan Cooke. Her son John Cooke Jr. (Cindy) and their children, her grandkids, Jennifer Carmean and Heather Sarovy. Her siblings, John “Jack” Laramie, the late Mary Underwood, Robert Laramie, Ralph “Butch” Laramie Jr., Raymond Laramie, Patricia Mareachen, and the late Dorothy Gray. Many nieces, nephews and her special friends, Vicki Cooke, April Valone, Wanda Moore and many more.

A funeral service will take place at 12 noon (CT), on Friday, January 13, 2023, with visitation two hours prior to services at M.C. Smith Funeral Home in Knox. Burial will follow at the Eagle Creek Cemetery in Knox.
