The steady drop in gas prices may soon come to an end. GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says the average price of gas in Indiana has dropped from almost three dollars a gallon at the start of October to $2.20 on Monday. “But that may soon coming to a halt,” he says. “Oil prices are up sharply on the prospects that OPEC will cut oil production when it meets later this week at its annual meeting. In addition, there’s some optimism that a trade deal could be looming between the U.S. and China, thus bolstering the economy in the near short-term future.”

Five people were hurt in a crash last week at 4th Road and Plymouth-Goshen Trail. Marshall County Police say it happened Wednesday afternoon around 4:15. Officers believe Richard Grounds II, 30, of Bremen, was driving a 2005 Chevy Tahoe east on 4th Road, when he drove into the path of a 2007 Nissan Sentra that was heading south on Plymouth-Goshen Trail.

A spike in drug overdoses over the Thanksgiving weekend has the Marshall County Health Department urging residents to learn to use the overdose reversal drug Narcan. A total of seven overdose events were reported in Marshall County last Saturday and Sunday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health Overdose Surveillance Team. None of them were fatal.

Marshall County’s Unemployment Rate Climbs to 3.4 Percent
Unemployment is up in Marshall County. The county saw a 3.4-percent unemployment rate in October, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That’s up from 2.8 percent in September and 2.6 percent in October of 2017. The county’s labor force grew slightly from September, but it’s smaller than it was in October of last year.
Plymouth Residents Arrested for Cocaine Possession, Following Friday Night Traffic Stop
A Friday night traffic stop led to two Plymouth residents being arrested for cocaine possession. Marshall County Police say that around 8:50 p.m., they tried to pull over a 2012 Nissan pickup truck near the intersection of 9A and Richter roads. When the driver, Roberto Landron Fonseca, 27, stopped the truck in the Ace Fitness parking lot in Plymouth, police reportedly discovered that he was driving without a license.
