A Bremen High School student is a recipient of the 2016 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. Benjamin Nick will receive a four-year, full tuition scholarship to the Indiana College of his choice, as well as a $900 yearly stipend for books and equipment. Continue reading

Indiana Receives Grant Funding to Combat Opioid Overdose

news-3Indiana will soon have some additional resources available to help prevent overdose deaths from prescription opioids. The state has gotten a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Prescription Drug Overdose: Prevention for States program. It aims to provide resources to help states fight prescription drug overuse, misuse, abuse, and overdose. Snead Selected for Argos Town Council

vote-3After losing a tie-breaker vote following November’s Argos Town Council race, Charles Snead will soon be seated on the council after all. In November’s General Election, Snead and incumbent Dustin Johnson both received the same number of votes. That left it up to the other sitting members of the council to make a decision, and they went with Johnson, the incumbent Democrat. Mobile Home Park Owner Disputes Marshall County Permitting Requirements

The owner of a couple of mobile home parks appeared before the Marshall County Commissioners Monday, saying he should be exempt from the county’s permitting requirements. Ralph Costello, who owns the Gatewood Estates and Creek Side mobile home parks, says he should not have to get a permit every time his parks decide to move or demolish a mobile home, since the parks predate the county’s zoning laws. Plymouth May Consider Removing Fluoride from Drinking Water

Plymouth IndianaThe City of Plymouth may be the next community to consider removing fluoride from its drinking water. Last week, the owner of a local naturopathic health business raised the issue with the city’s Board of Works. You can navigate here to know more about it. Marshall County EMA to Distribute Weather Radios

news-3A potentially life-saving piece of technology will be available for free to some Marshall County residents. Tomorrow morning, the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency will be distributing all-hazard weather radios to those most at risk from the threat of severe weather. These include people who live in mobile homes or homes without a basement, the elderly, and those with special needs.
