NIPSCO Reminds Customers that Energy Assistance Continues Past Winter

nipscoJust because there is a transition to spring taking place doesn’t mean NIPSCO has stopped providing utility assistance to some of its customers.

Between December 1st and March 15th, natural gas utilities in Indiana don’t disconnect services to low income home energy assistance customers just because they may be delinquent on their home heating bills.

National Weather Service Issues Dense Fog Advisory

National-Weather-ServiceA dense fog advisory is in effect through mid-morning. Visibility will be reduced to a quarter of a mile or less in places. The fog is expected to lift by 9 a.m. Eastern, 8 a.m. Central. Until then, motorists should slow down, use low-beam headlights for visibility and leave plenty of distance between vehicles.

Marshall Council Supports EMA Assistant Position

Marshall County plans to expand its Emergency Management Agency Department for added security at the county building.

The matter was discussed last week by the County Commissioners, but funding the proposal was addressed by the County Council on Monday morning. Currently there is a single EMA Director, but a deputy director could be used to not only help with regular duties in the office, but also provide security in the building. Continue reading

Regional Cities Funding Clears Statehouse Hurdle

news-2Regional Cities funding was finalized as the clock was ticking at the Indiana Statehouse on Thursday night.

There were suspicions that Regional Cities funding may not have sufficient votes for passage out of committee after the Indiana Economic Development Corporations’ Regional Cities Task Force recommended awarding Tax Amnesty funds to three regions of the state instead of two.

Former Plymouth-based CEO Convicted on Multiple Charges

gavel-300x199Marshall County’s Prosecutor says he will be seeking the maximum sentence following a conviction this week of a former Plymouth business’ CEO.

Investigations started following the closure of Stone Creek Homes in Plymouth in May of 2012. According to information provided by the prosecutor’s office, the company was shuttered without warning to customers or employees.
