Sports option for St. Michaels students

PLYMOUTH – In the future, athletes at St. Michaels School in Plymouth will have an option to participate in sports that the school doesn’t offer after a unanimous vote by the Plymouth School Corporation Board.

Plymouth High School Athletic Director Ryan Welch and Lincoln Jr. High Athletic Director Jason Breden came before the Plymouth School Board on Monday, November 2nd, to make a request

Welch went on to give the reasoning behind the request

Welch told the board participation would be limited to sports that are not offered by St. Michael’s, such as:

•Football – Grades 7–8

•Cross Country – Grades 7–8, with the possibility of future expansion to Grades 5–6

•Wrestling – Grades 7–8

•Track and Field – Grades 7–8

•Golf – Grades 7–8

Welch said that St. Micheals students would be expected to adhere to the same requirements for participation as Plymouth Corporation students, and there would be a participation fee as well to cover equipment costs.
