ARGOS — On Monday, August 10, 2026, at approximately 5:08 p.m., the Marshall County Coroner’s Office was notified of a death at 14942 Maple Road, Argos, Indiana.

An investigation found that the deceased, Jonathon Hayn, of Argos, Indiana, had been working inside a grain bin on the family farm when it appears he became overcome by smoke after the grain began burning.
Family members and workers attempted to remove Hayn from the grain bin but were unable to rescue him. Marshall County Central Dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 4:13 p.m.
Responding agencies included the Argos Fire Territory, Plymouth Fire Department, Parkview Paramedics, Argos Police Department, and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
Firefighters were ultimately able to remove Hayn from the grain bin. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner John Lampkins.
An autopsy has been scheduled to assist in determining the exact cause of death.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office will release additional information when it becomes available.
