INDIANAPOLIS — For decades, the question of who murdered Evelyn Matchett in her home on Pretty Lake has haunted
the people of Lagrange County and the investigative team who have been involved in this case.
On February 4th, 1988, Evelyn Matchett was murdered in her home on Pretty Lake in Lagrange County. She was 67 years old and a widow living by herself. Despite an exhaustive investigation by the Indiana State Police and the Lagrange County Sheriff’s Department, her killer has never been identified.
Hundreds of hours of investigative work have been poured into this case. Every lead has been chased. Every clue examined. But the answer remains hidden.
The Indiana State Police Cold Case Team believes that someone out there knows the truth. Maybe you remember a conversation or heard something that didn’t feel important at the time. Now we are asking that you bring any information in this case to light.
