A Plymouth man was arrested Friday, February 21 after officers with the Plymouth Police Department conducted a traffic stop.
An officer was following a vehicle with suspended plates, according to police. The officer tried to initiate a traffic stop on Jefferson Street east of Michigan Street, but the vehicle kept going west and stopped at the traffic light. Then, it turned south on Michigan Street and into the BP parking lot, where it finally stopped.
The driver was later identified as Abel Cruz Martinez, 36, of Plymouth. Police say it was determined during the investigation that Cruz Martinez never had a driver’s license.
Cruz Martinez was transported to Marshall County Jail where he was booked for operator never licensed and given a court date and bond. Cruz Martinez was also issued a citation for expired plates and no insurance.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
