The Marshall County Commissioners made a two-year moratorium on several projects planned in Marshall County official with a unanimous vote on several ordinances in their meeting on Monday.
A lengthy debate over several privately initiated projects around the county led to multiple public meetings and the recommendation of the Marshall County Plan Commission to place the moratorium on four types of projects: farm-scale solar projects, utility-scale battery energy storage systems, data centers and carbon capture projects in Marshall County.
Public meetings to gather citizen input were held by the Plan Commission on each of the issues, and the result was a favorable recommendation by the Commission for the ordinances presented to the Commissioners.
