Argos Town Council Tables EV Charger Contract for Second Time

During his attorney report to the council, Argos Town Attorney Derek Jones stated that he and Utilities Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom met with a MACOG representative regarding the EV Charger contract. At the last meeting, the council had tabled the contract due to questions that the council and Jones had regarding it.

The contract, between the Michiana Area Council of Governments and the Town of Argos, would involve an electric vehicle charger being installed at 560 W. Walnut Street, the Argos Community Park.

“She was really good to explain the verbiage in the contract and some of the questions that we had, or that I had. She indicated she’d make a few changes. She did. She got that back to Jamie and I,” Jones said.

He told the council that there was one other change that they are waiting on. “But, the big take away out of this was that, right now, their funding is kind of on a holding pattern. And so, there’s not really a great big rush to get this thing signed.”

One of the issues that Jones is still waiting to hear back on is the changing of venue from St. Joseph County to Argos. “I’d rather not go to St. Joe County, I’d rather keep it here. She doubted her attorney would agree to that. I understand, but nevertheless I asked and I’m still waiting to hear.”

Jones stated that he believed it was a good meeting and that it explained a lot about the matter and what the town can and cannot do.

“We’re not ready to sign this contract yet,” he said.
