On Jan. 22 at 7:20 p.m. ET, Plymouth Police Department officers attempted a traffic stop on a silver GMC truck near Kingston Rd. and Highland Ct.
The vehicle continued and pulled into the driveway at 140 N. Kingston Rd.
The Plymouth officer exited his vehicle and the driver, identified as Manuel Garcia Lopez, 44, exited his vehicle and started walking toward the house.
The officer ordered Garcia-Lopez to stop and to stay with the vehicle. Police say he said no and continued toward the house. The officer than grabbed Garcia-Lopez, who had opened the house door, and both went forward into the house and down onto a set of stairs, according to the report. Garcia-Lopez reportedly continued to resist and would not comply with orders. Once additional units arrived, he was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was lodged on preliminary charges of operating without ever having obtained a license and resisting law enforcement.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
