On Wednesday, Jan. 1, at approximately 2:30 a.m. ET, the Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call regarding a single-vehicle collision on Plymouth Laporte Trail in the area of 7th Rd.
Upon investigating the collision, it was found that the northbound 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Karzdon McCrammer of Rochester, ran off the roadway and collided with a tree on the east side of the road, according to the report. The only passenger of the vehicle, Grace Barth, age 19, of Culver, was transported to a regional hospital by Walkerton EMS for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, McCrammer allegedly admitted to officers on the scene that he had consumed alcoholic beverages prior to the collision. Police say McCrammer failed standardized field sobriety testing and was transported to a local for a certified chemical test. The certified test results showed that McCrammer’s blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, according to the report.
McCrammer was later booked at the Marshall County Jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury, a Level 5 Felony.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire and EMS, Walkerton Fire and EMS, and Lyon’s Wrecker Service.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
