Crash Sends Two to the Hospital

On Tuesday,​ Dec. 31,​ at 1:40 p.m. ET, ​Marshall County Central Dispatch was notified of a three-vehicle collision,​ with injuries,​ on US 6 at the SR ​106 West Junction.

When officers arrived on the scene,​ it was learned that Dorothea Troyer,​ 67, of Goshen,​ was traveling east on U.S. 6 in her ​2005 Lexus and a 2009 Buick Lucerne, driven by Richard Miller, 87 of Argos, was ​stopped at the stop sign at State Road ​106 and U.S. 6. Police say the Buick failed to yield and pulled out in front of the Lexus. The Lexus struck the Buick in the rear driver’s side of the vehicle and sent the Buick ​down in the ditch on the north side of the roadway.

The Lexus was then struck by a westbound 2015 Volvo semi tractor-trailer being driven by Michael Truex,​ 66, of Nappanee. The two vehicles then came to a rest in eastbound traffic.

U.S. 6 was shut down for a period of time while the vehicles and debris were removed from the roadway. There were two patients who were transported to the hospital with injuries,​ none of which were believed to be life-threatening.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Bremen Police Department,​ Bremen Fire Department,​ Bremen EMS,​ LaPaz EMS,​ and ​Newcomer’s Wrecker Service of Nappanee.
