Argos Community School Board Approves Holiday Stipend, Continues Search for New Superintendent

The Argos Community School Board members approved a holiday stipend for teachers and Classified staff during their recent meeting, according to Superintendent Ned Speicher.

“For the teachers, it was $500 and for the Classified staff it was $300,” said Speicher.

Speicher said the search is still on for his replacement as he is looking to retire soon. The school board is working with the University Superintendent Search Team.

Speicher explained, “We got some advice from the University advisors that right before the election there were quite a few people that were nervous about school board elections and they recommended we extend the application period until after the election because people would make some decisions depending on how the school board elections around the State of Indiana go. There weren’t any contested here, but in many places there were and that does make a difference. The board agreed with that and put it on hold and extended the application period through the rest of 2024 and hopefully move forward after the first part of the new year.”
