Bremen Town Council Reviews Wage Ordinance

The Bremen Town Council members reviewed the 2025 wage ordinance when they recently met.

Clerk-Treasurer Janet Anglemyer asked for the first reading on the ordinance. She said the numbers will be reviewed again and there is hope that insurance will be figured into the ordinance by the time the next ordinance reading occurs.

Councilman Alex Mikel suggested that the street superintendent’s salary should be increased to match the pay of the park superintendent. He noted that the street superintendent has a lot of responsibility which warrants an increase. He also talked about increasing the stipend for the firefighters and to check surrounding communities to see where Bremen falls concerning that pay in the salary ordinance.

Anglemyer reminded the council that these suggested increases were not included in the 2025 budget when it was previously adopted. He said they had talked about those items during budget time but there was not a follow-up conversation held about those items.

The first reading of the 2025 wage ordinance was unanimously approved. The follow-up to the inquiries will be discussed during the council’s next meeting.
