The Bremen Town Council members unanimously approved the second and third reading of the curfew ordinance during their meeting Monday, October 28.
The ordinance states that curfew hours are from 11 p.m. during the week until 6 a.m. of the following day; and from 12:01 a.m. until 6 a.m. on any Saturday or Sunday.
Curfew hours are to be observed by any person age 17 and under.
There are several exemptions. There would not be an offense of the curfew ordinance if the minor is accompanied by the minor’s parent or guardian; the minor is on an errand at the direction of the minor’s parent or guardian, without any detour or stop; the minor is in a motor vehicle involved in interstate travel; the minor is engaged in an employment activity, or going to or returning home from an employment activity, without any detour or stop; the minor is involved in an emergency; the minor is on the sidewalk abutting the minor’s residence or abutting the residence of a next-door neighbor if the neighbor did not complain to the police department about the minor’s presence; or if the minor is attending an official school, religious, or other recreational activity supervised by adults and sponsored by the city, a civic organization, or another similar entity that takes responsibility for the minor, or going to or returning home from, without any detour or stop, an official school, religious, or other recreational activity supervised by adults and sponsored by the city, a civic organization, or another similar entity that takes responsibility for the minor; among others.
