Bids Opened for the Second Round of READI Grants

The Marshall County Commissioners held a special meeting on Thursday to open bids for a second round of funding for the owner-occupied housing rehabilitation project.

Six homes were up for bid in this round of repairs and all were mainly roofing projects with some adjacent repairs related to those roofs also in the bidding process.

The project is funded by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority in the amount of $500,000 with no local match. Homes have been selected to receive updates in various locations in Marshall County. The homes have occupants with disabilities, veterans, elderly, single females occupied with young children, and a family with young children. Up to $25,000 will be spent on each of the homes selected.

The Commissioners received bids from two contractors for the work, Almac Sotebeer and Brown & Brown. Bidders were given four alternates they could bid or pass on.

The bids were taken under advisement to be reviewed by architect Brent Martin and then presented for approval of the Commissioners for their Monday meeting.
