The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety un-tabled the previous discussion regarding the contract on the Water Improvement Project Division I which was awarded to TGB Limited regarding a request for an additional $14,250 that resulted from an interpretation issue with the original contract.
According to Utilities Superintendent Donnie Davidson, there will be no need of the Council to accommodate the extra $14,250 requested by TGB to extend the line the additional length under N. Plum St. As previously reported, there was some confusion regarding the depth that the contractor would have to dig to go under the sewer line which resulted in more cost to the contractor which was not part of the original bid.
The Board of Public Works and Safety heard statements from both sides at the previous meeting, tabled the discussion and asked the engineer and the contractor to reach an agreement to be presented by Davidson.
In his update at the most recent meeting, Davidson said that they reviewed the original design and changed the installation which will avoid the deep cut which will eliminate the need for additional funding without negative impact to the integrity of the project.
Division 1 work includes the water distribution project which includes the replacement of a water main on Jefferson Street, a new 12” water main and a new 6” water main to loop the water system near Gilmore Street/Yellow River crossing, and a new water main to loop the water system along Plum Street.
