Plymouth Mayor Robert Listenberger announced the appointment of Ty Adley as the new Planning Director for the City of Plymouth Monday morning.
The Planning Director position was part of Plymouth’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan. A native of Northern Indiana, Adley brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this pivotal position. Residing in the area with his wife, Lauren, and their dog, Calvin, Ty is deeply rooted in the local community, which he believes is essential for fostering growth and sustainability in Plymouth.
Adley’s educational background is distinguished, having graduated from Rochester Community High School before earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Urban Planning from Ball State University. His rigorous academic training laid the foundation for his accreditation as a Certified Planner, a testament to his professional dedication and proficiency in the field. Over the past six and a half years, Adley has served as the Director for the Marshall County Plan Commission, where he has honed his skills in managing complex planning projects, community engagement, and regulatory compliance.
Prior to his tenure in Marshall County, Adley gained invaluable experience in the Charleston, SC Metropolitan Area, where he oversaw several thousand acres of Planned Unit Development and played a key role in establishing an automotive manufacturing hub. His diverse experience extends into regional government planning and academia, having served as an adjunct professor at Ball State University. Adley remains an active contributor to the planning community, previously holding the position of Northern Region Representative for the American Planning Association’s Indiana Chapter and currently running for Chapter President.
