A Grand Rapids, Michigan man was arrested Wednesday, September 4 just after 3 a.m. ET after Marshall County Central Dispatch received a call of a possible impaired or sleepy driver.
A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 31 and 9A Road after observing traffic infractions. During the stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana, according to the report. Police say the driver completed a standardized field sobriety test and passed. A probable cause search of the vehicle reportedly resulted in the findings of a large amount of suspected marijuana.
The driver, 33-year-old Matthew W. Crawford, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He faces a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
