The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a call Thursday, September 19 from a woman who reported her vehicle stolen earlier in the day and that the suspect had returned.
While speaking to the suspect, 27-year-old Chase Thomas, he told officers that he had permission to use the vehicle, but the registered owner told police that he was denied permission. Police say Thomas gave them permission to search his person and officer located suspected methamphetamine.
Thomas was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and theft of a vehicle.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
