Illinois Man Arrested Following Plymouth Accident

An Illinois man was arrested Sunday September 22 after a personal injury crash at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Oak Drive at 1:40 a.m. ET.

During the crash investigation, Plymouth Police Department officers say a passenger car driven by Jairo Murillo disregarded the stoplight and collided with a semi trailer traveling eastbound on U.S. 30.

Murillo was transported to the hospital for evaluation of possible injuries. It was discovered that Murillo was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to the report. Police say a certified chemical test was performed and Murillo’s blood alcohol content was over twice the legal limit.

After being cleared by medical professionals, Murillo was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .15 or higher, and operator never licensed.

The Plymouth Police Department was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire and EMS.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
