The Culver Community School Board held a public hearing on the 2025 budget during their September 16 meeting.
Treasurer/Business Manager Casey Howard went over the entire budget with the school board in great detail where she discussed enrollment, state tuition, tax rates, grants, revenues, and other items that are figured into the budget each year.
She went over the Notice to Taxpayers which shows that the Referendum Fund is about $2.9 million, the Rainy Day Fund at $400,000, Debt Service Fund at about $3.381 million, the Education Fund at about $8.7 million, and the Operations Fund at about $5 million. The adopted tax rate is 1.0433. The total estimated budget was advertised at $20,504,003 which Howard said will likely need to be adjusted based on review by the Department of Local Government Finance.
There were no other public comments during the hearing.
Following the public hearing, the board approved the Capital Projects Plan with a vote of 4-1 with Mark Maes opposed to the vote. The board unanimously approved the Bus Replacement Plan which shows the purchase of three new buses for 2025, two buses in 2026, two buses in 2027, three buses in 2028, and two buses in 2029.
The board will adopt the 2025 budget during their meeting Monday, October 7 at 7 p.m. ET.
