The Bremen Town Council members are looking at repairing the parking lot on Center Street across from the Bremen Police Department.
Ken Jones from Jones Petrie and Rafinski told the council members that he’s attempting to break down the project in smaller pieces to make it manageable. He said the biggest problem he is facing at this time is finding contractors who would be available to get the project done in the timely fashion it needs once demolition is completed. However, there could be a company available soon to get it done. He said there is an attempt to get it started before winter weather arrives, but an update on that timeline will be provided in a future meeting.
Under the parking lot features a basement from a building that needs to be demolished and properly filled in and packed and then paved. Fortunately, construction work at another local site will produce fill sand needed to pack the foundation for the proper reconstruction of the parking lot. Lighting is also being discussed as part of the project as well as storm water improvements.
The first phase would be the demolition and grading and then the second phase is to finish grading and paving.
The council will discuss the project further in upcoming meetings.
