Marshall County Commissioners Approve Revised Jail Repairs Contract

Marshall County Jail Maintenance Director John Greer presented an updated Jail Repair Proposal from FABCON to the Commissioners during their recent meeting.

Greer previously stated some exterior work is needed to address concrete wall cracks, and there are windows over the 911 Dispatch Center that were not installed properly causing issues.

The commissioners previously agreed to have representatives from FABCON provide an assessment of work that needs to be done as the company originally installed the concrete panels at the jail. Greer presented the company’s findings where he stated there is some cracking that needs to be addressed as stated in previous meetings. The horizontal cracks on the panels are the bigger worry.

There are some rust stains from the aggregate that was used which would be remediated as part of the project scope.

The previous contract was in the amount of $55,106 which included maintenance of cracks in the amount of $11,250, maintenance of rust stains in the amount of $3,750, and maintenance of panel caulk in the amount of $40,106.

An updated contract that included maintenance of window and door caulk in the amount of $46,257 was approved which totaled $101,363.

The Commissioners rescinded the first contract and approved the revised contract for comprehensive repair work.
