Driver Arrested on Impaired Driving, Drug Charges

A Plymouth woman was arrested Sunday, August 18 at approximately 6 p.m. ET after a traffic stop in the area of Olive Trail and 14B Road.

A K9 deputy responded to the area after a call was made about a possible intoxicated driver. During the traffic stop, K9 Diesel conducted an open-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics coming from the vehicle, according to the report. Police say a search of the vehicle was conducted where suspected crack cocaine, synthetic drugs, and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle.

The driver, 42-year-old Mary Balboa, was also suspected of operating the vehicle while intoxicated by controlled substance. She was transported to the hospital for a chemical test and then transported to the Marshall County Jail. Balboa was booked on preliminary charges of possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug less than five grams when an enhancing circumstance applies, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, possession of a synthetic drug or lookalike substance, possession of paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in the body.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
