A two-vehicle accident in the area of Michigan Road and 6A Road north of Plymouth Thursday, July 11 claimed the life of a La Porte man.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Dispatch received a report of a serious injury accident between a motorcycle and an SUV around 10:13 a.m. ET. Emergency responders arrived to find that the driver of the 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle, 64-year-old Steven E. Parker, of La Porte, had sustained a head injury from the collision, and though aid was rendered to him, he was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the report.
Parker was not wearing a helmet.
Police say the other driver, 27-year-old Maria J. Hernandez-Banegas of Bremen, was not injured and was transported from the scene for a certified chemical test which is standard procedure in a serious collision. Neither alcohol nor illegal drugs are believed to be factors at this time.
The accident remains under investigation and a report will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review when the investigation is complete.
