Plymouth Police Department officers responded to 700 Berkley Street Monday, July 8 at 11 p.m. ET after receiving a second 911 call that a man was violating a protection order and beating on an exterior door.
The subject was identified as 26-year-old Blake Brown, of Plymouth. Police say it was reported an hour prior that Brown entered the residence, took a cell phone from the resident to prevent them from calling 911, and then broke the phone.
Officers were unable to locate Brown after the first call but when officers responded to the second 911 call, Brown was found hiding behind a shed on the property. When the officer located Brown, he was instructed to turn around and place his hands behind his back, however, he refused to comply, according to the report.
When the Officer went to place Brown into handcuffs, he allegedly began to resist and batter the officer. During the struggle, Brown suffered minor injuries before being taken into custody.
Brown was transported by police to the hospital where he was treated and cleared to be housed at the Marshall County Jail. Brown is facing pending criminal charges for felony battery on a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, public intoxication, criminal mischief, invasion of privacy, intimidation, and interfering with the reporting of a crime.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
