Fort Wayne Man Arrested on Suspicion of Impaired Driving

John Williams III

A Fort Wayne man was arrested Sunday, July 14 just before 1 a.m. ET after the Marshall County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center was advised of a possible impaired semi truck driver on U.S. 30 at Gumwood Road.

A Plymouth Police Department officer was able to locate the semi and conducted a traffic stop for traffic infractions at U.S. 30 and Oak Road. A Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputy spoke to the driver, 41-year-old John W. Williams III, of Fort Wayne, and the officer noticed the smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath, according to the report. Williams reportedly agreed to field sobriety tests and a portable breath test. He also agreed to a certified breath test which reportedly showed his alcohol blood content was .127%. Williams was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
