The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members were updated on the Water Street Townhome project earlier this month.
The project will be located at the corner of Garro Street and Water Street. The plan is to construct 12 two-bedroom townhomes, 2 one-bedroom flats, and some commercial space. It will be all rental property. There will be one parcel for the development and a second parcel for the parking lot.
City Attorney Jeff Houin said all utilities have been disconnected from the homes that need to be demolished to make way for the new development.
There was an inspection for asbestos and there is a small amount that needs to be eradicated before the current structures are demolished, so the city is waiting for that action to take place and a notice from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management before the property can be cleared. That work is anticipated to take place soon.
Langfeldt Excavating previously submitted the lowest base bid of $38,460 to conduct the demolition.
