Plymouth Fire Chief Steve Holm informed the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety that he received notice from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) regarding Corteva and a burn permit that will be good for one year to burn some wild grass on their property. This is done every other year or so for the purpose of regeneration of the grasslands. The Safety Supervisor of Corteva informed Chief Holm that if conditions are favorable over the next two or three weeks they will likely conduct the burn; if not the burn may wait until next Spring.
The board approved a request made by the Marshall County Historical Society to block spaces on the south side of Garro Street between Center Street and Michigan Street from the alley to Michigan Street for the purpose of parking a large motor bus with visitors to the museum and downtown Plymouth. The Historical Society will be hosting visitors Tuesday, June 25 and Thursday, June 27 from the National Lincoln Highway Association Annual Convention at the Marshall County Museum. The spaces will be blocked to accommodate a large motor bus beside the museum. The visit will include a tour of the museum and a tour of historic downtown Plymouth. A luncheon will be hosted at the museum which will be catered by a local restaurant.
The board also approved a partial street closure on Baker Street near the soccer complex for “Steps for Stegs 5K”. Plymouth High School Educator Curtis Nordman shared that the event is to support Haley and Nathan Stegelmann, Nathan was recently diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Syndrome). At the time of the meeting Monday evening, over 700 people were registered. School Resource Officer Bridget Hite has already coordinated law enforcement security and emergency response presence for the event. The closure will not impact the entrance or exit to River Park Homes on Baker Street, though residents will only be able to turn toward Columbus Drive. Sign up for the event or donate here. Funds will help the couple purchase a van and make Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) renovations to their home.
