An Illinois man was arrested Tuesday, April 16 after a deputy with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop on a gray 2024 Chevrolet SUV in the area of U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive.
During the investigation, the officer reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search was completed and the officer located suspected marijuana, according to the report. The driver, 32-year-old Darius M. Boyd, of Palatine, Illinois, was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He was booked on a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana.
Formal charges will be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
