The January unemployment rate was released this week which showed an increase in unemployment in the tri-county area.
Marshall County’s rate in January was 3.9 percent compared to 2.6 percent in December, Starke County’s unemployment rate was 5.1 percent in January compared to 3.8 percent in December, and Pulaski County’s unemployment rate was 3.3 percent in January compared to 2.1 percent in December.
Starke County has the 4th highest unemployment rate in the state, while Marshall County has the 41st highest unemployment rate and Pulaski County stands at 73rd highest.
Indiana’s unemployment rate fell from 2.9 percent in December to 3.8 percent in January.
