Semi Strikes Building in Plymouth

A semi struck a building in Plymouth Wednesday, March 13 just before 6:30 a.m. ET after reportedly rear-ending a passenger van at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive.

The Plymouth Police Department was notified of the accident and responded, along with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police. Police say the passenger van was in the eastbound lane stopped at the red light when the semi driver disregarded the red light. As a result, the semi rear-ended the van which sent it rolling over down an embankment and coming to rest next to the Hacienda restaurant located near the intersection. After the collision, the semi driver lost control, drove down the embankment and struck a building causing damage to the back side of the Hacienda restaurant and to an adjoining building space, according to the report.

Both drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment, but police say neither driver had any visible injuries.

Eastbound traffic on U.S. 30 was diverted in that area for about 90 minutes while police investigated the accident.
