The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety was updated by Utilities Superintendent Donnie Davidson on the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) Water Project and other items during the regular meeting on Monday, March 11.
As a reminder, the Waterworks Improvement Project contains the following elements:
Abandoning existing 4” water main along Jefferson Street and replace with a new 12” water main (2880 LF); installing new 12” water main and new 6” water main to loop water system near Gilmore Street / Yellow River Crossing (335 LF); installing 470 LF of new water main to loop water system, along Plum Street; and rehabilitating existing PIDCO Elevated Water Storage Tank (sandblast, repaint interior / exterior, structural work).
According to Davidson, the cost for the Engineering Design and Construction Management portion of the project came in within the $240,000 budget submitted in the OCRA application for that item with the following costs: $177,000 for design, $15,000 for bidding, and $48,000 for construction engineering.
The board approved. The total cost estimated for the Water Utility Project is $2,492,240 funded partially with an OCRA Grant in the amount of $700,000 with the balance of $1,792,270 being the responsibility of the City of Plymouth.
In other news, Davidson informed the board that the City of Plymouth was approved for the Indiana Finance Authority Grant in the amount of $9,933 applied for. The maximum grant amount awarded was $10,000. Davidson will use that funding to work with the consultant to determine the last few unknown lead service lines. That amount will help fund that effort but will not cover the total remaining cost of completing that project.
Davidson also informed the board that he was able to purchase a portable generator for $75,000, the board had previously approved the purchase of a portable generator in the amount of $85,000 to $95,000.
