Marshall County Election Board to Hold Public Test of Voting Machines

The Marshall County Election Board members will hold a public test of voting machines Wednesday, March 27 at 9 a.m. ET, following the board’s regular meeting at 8:30 a.m.

The board conducts the public tests to ensure election equipment is properly programmed and functioning ahead of the election.

A percentage of voting machines from the county’s inventory are tested during the public test. The voting machines to be tested are chosen by VSTOP (Voting System Technical Oversight Program) officials and are randomly selected. The Verified Voter Paper Audit Trail printers will also be tested to ensure proper function.

The ballots will be tested with each candidate receiving at least one vote. When the test is complete, the machines will be reset to zero and are locked and stored until election day.

The test will be conducted at the Marshall County Courthouse.
