Marshall County Election Board Holds Public Test of Voting Machines

(L to R) Jon VanVactor (Proxy for Steve Harper), Clerk Jenny Bennitt, Voter Registration Clerk Mindy Keilman, Board Member Susie Kreighbaum

The Marshall County Election Board members held a public test of voting machines Wednesday, March 27 at the Marshall County Courthouse.

The purpose of the public test is to ensure that all of the voting equipment is programmed and working properly prior to early voting and the primary election.

Only five percent of the machines are required to be tested. Four machines were tested in Marshall County and they were randomly selected by Voting System Technical Oversight Program (VSTOP) officials. The Verified Voter Paper Audit Trail printers were also tested to ensure proper function.

The Election Board members ensured that every candidate received at least one vote on each ballot in each precinct, both Democratic and Republican, and all was verified. The board signed certifications pertaining to the testing of the voting machines.

The board would like to remind Marshall County residents that voter registration ends Monday, April 8. Registration can be done in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office, or online by visiting www.indianavoters.com.

Early voting begins Tuesday, April 9.
